No Oxygen For Christmas

Isaac has been sick lately with a family cold. Over the weekend he had a fever and was needing a high liter flow of oxygen during the day and night. Needing the 02 brings some challenges now that Isaac is wanting to be more active on the floor. He still wanted to roll around, except this time I had to make sure that he didn't wrap himself up in the tubing. Also the portable tank only has so much tubing length, so I had to make sure that he didn't go too far or the tank would fall on top of him!

I was a little worried about which direction this cold was going so I had a heart to heart talk with him. I told him that it was almost Christmas and that he needed to get better so that he wouldn't be spending it in the hospital. Today he is better and doesn't need the oxygen. This is what a Mama likes to see. I don't want a fancy present for Christmas. I just want a happy boy without oxygen to snuggle with. Autumn and I were feeling better by Wednesday so we went to Santa's workshop up at the hospital to pick out a present for the boy. Autumn was excited to help the volunteers wrap his present. While we were there, a few kids came in with IV poles and tubes so that they could go shopping for their family members. It made me feel sad for a moment when I realized that those kids would be spending Christmas in the hospital. No child should be spending the holidays in a hospital bed. I was glad to see that they got to take a break from reality for awhile and check out all of the cool toys. If you have a healthy child, be thankful. Having a child home and healthy for the holidays is a priceless gift!

Isaac, you are definitely being a very good boy for Christmas! I'm so happy you will be home and well for the holidays. Keep up the good health. Santa is going to be good to you this year!
