Yummy Feet

Look at those cute feet, I just want to eat them for lunch!

Isaac has been on his best behavior lately, other than a minor ear infection. I always know when he has something like that brewing because his ear starts to smell like dirty socks...yuck! We're dealing with some GI appointments/decisions right now, but that's a whole other post. We have another appointment coming up on May 10th (edited) to discuss a possible scope and the risks verses benefits factor.

Therapy is going great and I love the home bound program. Right now his new Physical Therapist and I are discussing the process for a wheelchair stroller. Isaac's current double stroller works well for us, but it doesn't support his head and trunk very well. I'm checking into something similar to a
cuddlebug that would hold him in, but still has some room for medical equipment.

Isaac had another opportunity for fame this week. He's going to be in our local journal of business! One of our medical suppliers wanted to post an article about their services and selected him to be in the photo with the Respiratory Therapist. Maybe I can find some way to post the article online when it comes out.

Have a great week everyone!

It's a bird, it's a plane it's......super Aunt

This is Isaac's favorite Aunt in the whole wide world.
My Sister-in-law Cassie has been through some of the hardest moments with us, especially the first year. It was overwhelming to think of coming home from the NICU with medical equipment and strangers in the house, so she stepped in and became one of his home nurses. She also traveled with us to several exciting trips to the ER and even went for a ride in an ambulance with him. I'm very grateful that she was there for us during that stressful time. She has now moved on to bigger and better things and actually works in the ER now, which makes the process a little easier when we arrive there. I didn't actually get to know Cassie very well until we had our kids 2 months apart, then we became more like sisters. Now that our kids are older, we take turns taking them to and from private school. This really helps me out because I don't get out much with Isaac in the afternoons. Here's a photo of Autumn and her cousin Donny when they were babies. This is still a typical day 8 years later:)People used to ask if they were twins.

Still Celebrating!

Isaac is loving his new a special needs swing that he got for his birthday. It's great and he can swing in it until he's 100 pounds! On his birthday we had ice cream cupcakes (Isaac got to taste) and he got to open a new Baby Einstein Video. Today we are having more festivities with family and a couple of friends and then next month we are having another party with my family from out of town. I guess you can never do enough celebrating! Now that Isaac is 3 he has transitioned to the home bound program with the school district. So far I'm thrilled with the therapists and teacher who will be working with him. We considered moving further north into a different school district, but I changed my mind. I don't think he could get better home based therapy anywhere else.

3 Years Ago......

3 Years ago this was me. I was what you would call a proud pregnant lady. We were expecting a boy, but more importantly we were finally expecting our 2nd child. It took us 3 1/2 years of heart ache to get this far with a pregnancy. With one miscarriage after another, my husband and I were in disbelief when we made it through the first and then into the 2nd trimester. Even though I never got very big, I couldn't wait to put on those maternity clothes!

We were excited, but something deep down made us feel guarded.

What was it?

We were about to find out.

This was a 4d ultrasound picture of Isaac shortly before he was born. It looks like he's praying. Little did we know that we would need a multitude of prayers over the next 3 years. Thanks to those prayers....he is here.......3 years later. I am so thankful for everyone who has followed our journey and has kept him in your thoughts and prayers.

So tomorrow my little boy will be 3 years old.

When I found out after he was born that he was less than perfect, it was devastating. Now I can truly say that his life has changed me in more ways than I can count.

Happy Birthday sweet boy! I love your new glasses!

Mama Needs A Vacate

Today we took Isaac to his first GI appointment and on the way there we got rear ended at a stoplight! Thankfully we are all OK and the back end wasn't banged up too bad. It did definitely rattle us a little and my home nurse is now experiencing some back pain. When we arrived at the appointment, the doc said that they didn't have any of Isaac's medical records that the Pediatricians office was supposed to send them 3 weeks ago. We had to explain Isaac's medical history in a nutshell. Yeah...umm....that was easy.

I've been a little disheartened lately about Isaac's last hospital stay. I know I didn't want to talk about it last week, but there was a major med error that was the fault of the Doctor. I know that people are human and make mistakes, but it makes me feel uneasy about taking him there anymore. I felt better after talking to the nurse manager yesterday. I also talked to her about some other issues that I've had in the past with previous admits. As always, I expect that my sweet boy to gets nothing less than quality care.

This weekend my husband and I are planning on getting away......just the two of us. I'm SO looking forward to it! Please pray that Isaac behaves himself this week. His oxygen requirements are a little higher than normal, but hopefully he's just having one of those days.

Home Report

Sorry it took me so long to update. I've been frazzled lately due a hospital error that was made during this last stay. I would rather not go into it right now or my blood pressure might go up. I have spent most of the afternoon typing up a letter to the nurse manager.

Isaac got home yesterday afternoon and is doing good. His lungs are really not that great, but nothing we can't deal with here at home. They never really found out what was causing the fever or high heart rate, but they sent him home on antibiotics.....he hasn't had a fever since.
We are planning on making the most of Easter with the little man. My mother-in-law Carolyn just had knee surgery, so she will be spending Easter in a rehab facility. We were visiting her and Isaac in the hospital at the same time! She's had a rough road lately so please keep her in your thoughts and prayers.

Have a wonderful weekend and a Happy Easter!!
